Rats

Rats is a rodent that resembles a large mouse, typically having a pointed snout and a long, sparsely haired tail. Some kinds have become cosmopolitan and are sometimes responsible for transmitting diseases.

Sign Of Infestation

Droppings

You may find droppings around baseboards, in dark corners, kitchen counters or in cupboards and drawers, as rats feed and collect food at night. Fresh droppings are black and pellet shaped, while older droppings turn gray and crumbly.

Scratching Noises

They make scratching sounds while running around your house in the nights. You can hear them in the ceiling or inside the walls. You also may hear squeaking or chewing noises.

Footprints

Fresh tracks are clear and sharp whereas, old tracks are at least partially obscured by dust.

Rat urine has a distinct musky scent that is different from domestic pet odors. You’re more likely to smell rat urine and feces in smaller or closed-off areas. A dead rat will smell very badly

Nests

Rats nest in dark places where they feel safe. Usual nesting places are in basements, garages or walls. The rats will shred cloth, paper, wood and other materials to build nests. When searching these areas for rat infestation, you may come across a ball of nesting material and food cache

Burrow

Ensure that your windows are ducted properly and there are no tiny holes in your walls. Rats as they are very quick to move and a whole colony of rats can settle in your home before you even realizing anything.

Poor Sanitation

The sign of unhygienic space are quite true. If you have bits of garbage and food scattered around the house, that would be the places rats can survive by eating anything from food to paper, cloth to wood. Prevention is always better than cure. Therefore, keep your house as clean as you can.

Damage

Rats will chew on just about anything. Unfortunately, when they infest a home, they can do costly structural damage. Rats can chew electrical wiring, walls, ceilings and cupboards . The reason they chew to sharpen their teeth and through various substances to get to a food source or to make a shorter route to the source. You may notice a pile of small wood chips where rats chew most often. They not only damage property and things lying around the house, but can also spread various dangerous diseases.

When
